Green Meadows has been presenting fun and entertaining field trip experiences for over 50 years. These events have been hosted across the United States with the primary focus on public elementary schools, middle schools, private schools and home school groups as well as the general public.
In 1997, we began presenting Native Lands, a multi-cultural event focusing on the Native American and African cultures. Learn about these cultures in a colorful, educational and fun way! How can learning be fun? Easy, when you use ageless traditions like music and dancing! We encourage audience participation from everyone – young and old. Believe us when we say you will find it hard to resist joining in the fun!
Enjoy watching the Native Americans dance in their beautiful regalia. Did you know that their regalia is all handmade? Learn about different styles of dancing and what they mean to their culture. Check out the tipis that once served as their homes. Dance, dance and dance!
High-energy describes this show as you learn why drums and dancing are so important to African life! The area has old-fashioned, grass huts to simulate what would have been used as their home. Check out the other musical instruments in their Village Life presentation.
Animals of the Lands is an entertaining and educational animal show. While our animals can’t dance or sing, they can run! Learn about a few furry friends such as a llama, donkey, goats, sheep and brahma steer. The fan favorite of this show, however, is the pig races. The kids squeal louder than the pigs!
Native Lands operates in a “festival” style environment. Upon arrival, you will see separated areas with bleachers. Each area is numbered and showcases a certain show of the event. The shows range from 15 to 30 minutes in length depending on the area. You are free to go from area-to-area in the order and time frame that best suits your needs and interests. We will provide a program schedule specific to the location approximately two weeks before your trip.
In addition to the shows, we offer the following activities at most locations for a nominal fee of $1 each: face painting, archery and animal feed. We also have souvenirs and food available for sale at most locations. A listing of items available is on the back of the program schedule provided.

When is payment due?
In a perfect world, we would like to receive payment 2 weeks prior to your scheduled trip. This allows enough time to send out your admission stickers. However, as long as payment is received in our office in Maryland no later than 3 business days (Mon – Fri) prior to your trip, we still give you the advanced rate. In this case, we would not mail your admission stickers. Rather, they will be waiting for you at “Check In” on the day of your trip. Rest assured, we will do all we can to help you get the advanced rate.
What if we have paid for the field trip and some of the students/parents can’t make it, do we get our money back?
We have a “No Refund” policy. If it is a concern that people may not show up, we suggest that you pay for less admissions in advance and have any stragglers pay the General Admission fee on the day of the trip.
How many chaperones do we need?
This decision is totally up to you as we believe that you know the needs of your children better than us. Please be assured that we offer a safe and friendly environment for your children.
Are there picnic tables or a designated lunch area?
As a general rule, we suggest bringing blankets/mats to sit on for a picnic lunch. We travel to different locations so we are unable to guarantee picnic tables for lunch. However, we have lots of grassy areas and you could always eat lunch on the bleachers between shows or even while you enjoy a show!
Are we allowed to bring lunch?
Yes and we actually encourage it! Bring in bagged or boxed lunches, coolers and whatever else you need (and don’t forget the blankets to sit on).
Do you sell concessions?
Centreville, VA – We sell drinks and souvenirs.
All Other Locations – Souvenirs, snacks, drinks and hot dogs are available for purchase.
What if it rains on our scheduled date?
Green Meadows makes a decision as to whether or not the event will proceed at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the trip. If the weather is questionable on the day of your trip, please feel free to call our office anytime after 7:30 a.m. In the event we cancel due to inclement weather, you can either reschedule to your rain date (typically this date follows the last scheduled date of the event) or reschedule for another day of the event as long as there is availability or receive a refund. The details can be worked out at that time.
What if we can’t get buses for another date?
Don’t panic – we understand what a challenge this can be sometimes. In the event you are unable to reschedule, we will refund your money. The only requirement is that any admission stickers in your possession must be returned to our office within 30 days. If you were scheduled to pick up your admission stickers at Check In, then the processing of your refund begins immediately. As long as the payment has cleared, you can expect your refund check within 10 days.
